Rigathi Gachagua’s Shocking Allegations: Inside the Alleged Plot Against Kenya’s Former Deputy President”
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come forward with serious and explosive allegations against the Kenya Kwanza government, claiming that there was a plot for his assassination. Speaking from his Karen residence on Monday, May 19, Gachagua revealed what he described as a state-sponsored attempt to eliminate him, using not only physical force but even “biological weapons” aimed at degrading his mental health over several months.
According to Gachagua, the plan to target him was authorized at the highest level. He alleged that President William Ruto himself gave orders to “deal with him once and for all” during an incident that took place on Sunday, May 18, while he was attending a church service in Murang’a County.
“While attending a church service in Gatanga Constituency yesterday, I received intelligence reports indicating there were orders to have me dealt with once and for all,” Gachagua said during an explosive press briefing.
The former Deputy President, who has a background as a District Commissioner, explained that several attempts by state-sponsored operatives to intimidate or harm him failed, prompting intervention by the police and other security agencies.
“Since the goons sponsored by the state on several occasions had failed, police and other state security agencies had to come in,” he stated.
In a further chilling revelation, Gachagua claimed that some police officers under orders were planning to plant arms and weapons in his convoy as a pretext to arrest him. He said patriotic officers who opposed this scheme tipped him off about the plot.
“We received intelligence that officers deployed with clear instructions were to plant arms and weapons in our convoy, to create grounds for arrest and gather evidence to charge us in court,” he said.

This announcement came after a tense incident on Sunday evening when police units reportedly surrounded Gachagua’s homes in Karen and Wamunyoro. The late-night deployment was confirmed by Ndegwa Njiru, Gachagua’s lawyer and close ally, who raised concerns publicly about the heavy police presence around the former Deputy President’s residences.
Despite the mounting pressure, Gachagua denied having received any summons from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), which he said would be required by law. However, he revealed that he was aware of efforts by certain officers to block his movements, forcing him to change routes to reach his Karen home safely.
This rerouting was, according to Gachagua, a precautionary measure designed to prevent his security detail from being disarmed, which could have exposed him to attacks.
The controversy surrounding Gachagua has intensified over recent weeks, especially after he made controversial remarks about the upcoming 2027 general elections. On Friday, he warned that the polls could descend into chaos if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) failed to conduct a free and fair election.
However, Gachagua defended his comments on Sunday, insisting that he was not inciting violence but simply calling for accountability from the electoral commission.
“This statement was a precautionary warning, not incitement. It is based on historical facts and lessons from the controversial elections of 1992, 1997, and 2007. We must ensure a free and fair election in 2027,” he said.https://shorturl.at/r65gs
As of Monday evening, the Ruto administration had yet to respond to Gachagua’s explosive claims. Neither Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen nor the Kenya Police Service has issued any official statement, despite repeated requests for clarification.
So far, there has been no independent verification of Gachagua’s allegations. However, his outspoken criticism of President Ruto’s administration has reportedly caused unease within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, where some see him as a persistent dissident.

Gachagua’s claims on Sunday are not isolated. In a letter addressed to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, the former Deputy President complained about the withdrawal of his security detail, despite ongoing court cases including an impeachment process. He argued that this has left him vulnerable to attacks by organized criminal gangs allegedly operating with impunity.
He detailed several troubling incidents: On November 28, 2024, during a funeral service in Limuru, his convoy was reportedly attacked, vehicles vandalized, and women and children accompanying him were roughed up—all allegedly while police officers watched without intervening.
On December 28, 2024, in Shamata, Nyandarua, he said an inspector of police, accompanied by members of a criminal gang, threw teargas canisters at him in an attempt to disperse his supporters and possibly open the door for an assassination attempt.
Other incidents reportedly targeted him in Kamukunji, at ACK St. Peter’s Cathedral in Nyeri, Naivasha Town, and most recently on April 6 at PCEA Church in Kasarani, Nairobi.
Gachagua also warned that there are well-orchestrated plans to attack his residences in Nairobi and Nyeri, as well as other properties across the country. He said those behind these plots are known to the Inspector General of Police.
He accused state security agents of trailing him and his family in unmarked vehicles with “sinister intentions,” and cautioned that the IG would be held personally responsible should any further violence or assassination attempts occur.
In the letter, which was also copied to President William Ruto, Gachagua demanded immediate arrest and prosecution of the individuals responsible. He further called for the restoration of his security detail and adequate protection at all public events he attends as a national leader.
He urged the Inspector General to stop interfering with peaceful public gatherings and to cease harassment of his family by state security agencies.
Whether Gachagua’s claims represent genuine concerns for his safety or a political strategy to garner sympathy remains to be seen. But they have certainly raised serious questions about internal tensions within Kenya’s ruling coalition, and the state of political freedoms and security in the country.https://touchdigitalnews.com/gachagua-defends-uhuru-warns-ruto-over-mt-kenya-politics/
