Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has commended the recent political agreement between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, hailing it as a crucial step toward national stability and development.
Speaking at the AIC Annex Fellowship Church in Eldoret on Sunday, Lusaka expressed full support for the move, emphasizing that a united nation fosters steady progress.
“We fully endorse your decision to collaborate with ODM because unity is key to sustainable development,” Lusaka stated.
The governor underscored the importance of inclusivity in governance, asserting that all Kenyans should feel represented in the administration. He also praised President Ruto for fulfilling his campaign promises through various development projects across the country.
On March 7, President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would ease political tension in the country.
The MoU, which was signed at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), aims to address key issues affecting the country, including the implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (Nadco) Report. This report proposes the establishment of the post of Prime Minister and seeks to address concerns over alleged abductions of government critics.

The agreement was signed between President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). The two leaders also pledged to curb youth unemployment and intensify the fight against corruption within the government.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, President Ruto emphasized the significance of national unity, saying, “We recognize that this moment is unlike any other. We must rise above political differences and embrace a higher vision for the Kenya we deserve.”
The President highlighted key agreements under the MoU, which include lowering the cost of living, creating job opportunities for the youth, fostering democratic governance, gender inclusion, combating graft, reducing national debt, and upholding the rule of law.

Odinga had arrived to grace a football match featuring the local team, Shabana FC, who were playing Plantech FC at the Gusii Stadium. However, upon his arrival, a section of Shabana FC fans began chanting “Ruto must go!” slogans, while some proceeded to walk out of the stadium in protest.
The incident underscored the complex political dynamics in a region where Odinga has historically enjoyed significant support. The fans’ chants appeared to express dissatisfaction with President Ruto’s administration, yet their decision to leave upon Odinga’s arrival indicated a nuanced stance.
Political observers suggest that the reaction could be attributed to growing frustrations among the electorate regarding the government’s handling of economic issues, particularly the high cost of living and unemployment.
